earth pledge - correction

In a previous post on 2/3 (which has now been corrected), I stated that the above heavenly coat dress from Earth Pledge's Future Fashion show was a Diane von Furstenberg creation. Well, I was so wrong. This fabulous piece was designed by the equally fabulous Duro Olowu. My deepest apologies to Mr. Olowu. Nigerian-born & currently based in London, Olowu's designs are unique & oh so lust-worthy. While he's not on the line-up for NY fashion week, I believe he will be showing in London later this month. earth pledge future fashion

Earth Pledge celebrated NY Fashion Week a few hours early with their Future Fashion show held on Thursday, 1/31 at Gotham Hall. More than two dozen of the industry's prominent designers pledged their support by creating eco-chic looks out of sustainable materials. Among the participants were Diane Von Furstenberg, Duro Olowu (heavenly coat dress shown above), Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Derek Lam, YSL, and Givenchy. Using organic fabrics, natural vegetable dyes, and fibers derived from banana leaves, hemp, soybeans, and bamboo, the show proved that fashion has the ability to go green without compromises in design, quality, or style. This is one trend that I hope to see on the runways for many seasons to come.
